Leah's Story

My name is Leah.

I live with my mom. She used to worry a lot and I saw her cry sometimes. She always told me that we would have a better life some day and she has made that happen with help from Volunteers of America.

There is a program for kids like me who have parents that need to work but can’t afford some of the afterschool programs in our neighborhood. When she found the Volunteers of America program for me, she was able to go to school at night and get a better job. She calls it her new career. And she doesn’t worry or cry anymore.

What she likes most is knowing I am safe. She knows they are taking good care of me when she is working and that makes her happy. That makes me happy, too, because I love my mom more than anything. I think Volunteers of America loves us, too.
