ALEXANDRIA, Va., July 8, 2014— Volunteers of America announced today that Karen M. Dale, R.N., M.S.N. has been appointed to the organization’s national board of directors.  

Dale is executive director/CEO of AmeriHealth District of Columbia where she provides day-to-day leadership, stakeholder engagement and strategic focus to ensure improved population health for more than 100,000 members served by the health plan.  Dale formerly served as executive vice president of Volunteers of America from 2004-08.

“It’s exciting for us to welcome Karen to our board of directors,” stated Mike King, president and CEO of Volunteers of America. “With Karen’s past history with Volunteers of America, her leadership skills and expertise in health care, she will be a great asset to our organization in helping to guide and direct our future.”

Dale holds a Bachelors of Science in nursing from George Mason University and a Master of Science in Psychiatric Mental Health Nursing from The Catholic University of America.  She resides in Upper Marlboro, Md.
