Capital One Helps Fund New Behavioral Health Website

Alexandria, VA. (November 19, 2014) – Because of a generous grant provided by Capital One, Volunteers of America has now launched a new online portal that will allow it to better connect with consumers seeking the organization's behavior and mental health services nationwide.
The site (http://behavioralhealth.voa.org) provides a single access point for potential clients to find information on services offered by Volunteers of America affiliates in 10 markets: Baton Rouge, La.; Brunswick, Maine; Indianapolis; Lanham, Md.; Louisville, Ky.; New Orleans; San Diego; Sheridan, Wyo.; Shreveport, La.; and Sioux Falls, S.D.
“We are tremendously grateful to Capital One for making this new online portal a reality," said Volunteers of America National President Mike King. “With Capital One's support, Volunteers of America has built a solid foundation for its 28 affiliates with behavioral health services. We hope this new site will allow us to help many more vulnerable people who need our services."
The new “micro-site" is directed at consumers to showcase Volunteers of America as a recognized leader in behavioral health and social services in response to health care reform. It features the organization and its affiliates' capabilities in behavioral health services and link web visitors to appropriate affiliates and services.
As one of the nation's largest and oldest nonprofit providers of housing and services to vulnerable people, Volunteers of America serves approximately 30,000 people in its behavior health programs annually. Currently, on-site supportive services include a wide range of behavioral health services and linkages to community services. Volunteers of America faces a unique challenge in that services are provided nationwide, yet services are developed and operated by affiliates in response to local needs. The new behavioral health site provides an attractive, easy-to-use resource for managed care administrators and the general public to learn more about services and to connect with an appropriate service provider in their area.
