Volunteers of America Publishes Book of Personal Stories on Moral Injury
More than 100 leaders from the human services, veterans, caregiving, faith and corporate communities came together May 15 to celebrate the launch of Volunteers of America’s new book: “The Momentum of Hope: Personal Stories of Moral Injury.”
The book is part of Volunteers of America's moral injury initiative through which we will explore the effects of moral injury and ways we can reach those affected by it, discover new pathways toward healing, and help educate the public.
“The Momentum of Hope” is an incredibly moving collection of first-person essays by people who have suffered from moral injury and are on the path to recovery. It also includes an extensive bibliography and a discussion guide.
The launch included a fascinating panel discussion by three of the essayists from the book, moderated by Volunteers of America Senior Vice President, Moral Injury Rita Brock.
“The Momentum of Hope” is available on Amazon.com. In addition, Volunteers of America recently released a white paper summarizing the findings from six convenings about moral injury that we held across the country.
